Cameron Wilson made an impressive ascent in the collegiate athletics industry after receiving his master of arts in business with a specialization in intercollegiate athletic administration (MAIAA) from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 2016. Recently named the director of events and facilities at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, South Dakota, he is the first MAIAA graduate to reach a director level position in a collegiate athletic department.

Prior to his enrollment as a student in the master of arts in business with a specialization in intercollegiate athletics administration (MAIAA) program in the College of Business, Ryan Christy golfed for four years at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa. He accumulated an overall scoring average of 77.7, was named First Team All-Conference his junior year and shot a career best score of 71 five separate times in his collegiate career.

Enrollment at the new College of Business at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln climbed to 4,462 students this fall. A 14.8 percent increase in first-time freshmen students – with 839 joining the college as of September – spurred the growth. In five years, first-time freshmen have increased by 29.5 percent.

More than 850 business students at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln were named to the College of Business Dean’s List for the spring semester of the 2016-17 academic year. The 773 undergraduates who received this honor maintained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.6 or higher for the semester. The college also recognized 176 undergraduate students for achieving a 4.0 GPA.

Two students in the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Master of Arts in Business with a Specialization in Intercollegiate Athletics Administration (MAIAA) program at the College of Business Administration made history by sweeping this year’s College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) postgraduate scholarships. James Hajek from Omaha, Nebraska, and Lorie Garnett from Manteca, California, are both part of the two-year cohort program which blends the academic foundation of the UNL MBA program with experience in the operation of Husker Athletics.

An estimated 350 attended the groundbreaking ceremony, which was held inside the Kauffman Academic Residential Center and near the site of the new building at 14th and Vine streets.

Students were honored at a reception and given a tour of Memorial Stadium, including the new performance enhancement center.
